What’s Your “Mission” Here, Anyway?

Whats-Your-Mission-Here,-Anyway

We’re told to chase after our dreams and find our purpose in this world. Even so, many of us get trapped in the same monotonous routines, allowing personal goals and desires to slip to the wayside. This can be especially true when life becomes busy and challenging.

So how do you find your “mission” in this world and make your impact while you’re here? The answers might not always seem obvious, and there are no rules set in stone that you must follow, but these tips may help you get started.

Accept Yourself

Easier said than done, right? Many of us have parts of ourselves we wish we could change or ignore — but these feelings can get in the way of our self-confidence and hold us back from taking on new challenges and opportunities.

Believe it or not, even if other people in your life seem fearless and confident, most of them are probably struggling with the same doubts as you are. Once you realize this and start learning to accept yourself, you may feel the freedom to express your thoughts and feelings more openly and chase your passions without fear of judgment.

Try New Things

It can be a challenge to make room for new interests in everyday life — but even something as simple as trying a new craft or visiting an unfamiliar place can make a difference. Gaining experience can help you learn and enrich yourself. Your new skills may even help you support others in meaningful or important ways.

Make time to try new ideas and find activities you feel passionate about. The beauty of finding your personal mission is that it doesn’t need to be restricted to one job, activity or idea. There may be many things that make you feel fulfilled, and it’s okay to pursue each of them.

Ask Yourself What You Value

Values play a large role in our lives, often acting as a guide when it comes to our relationships, careers and interactions with others. If you’re struggling financially or are feeling overwhelmed with personal issues, you may not feel you have time to devote to soul-searching. In this case, ask yourself what you value.

Whether it’s family, career, kindness, commitment or some other quality or aspect of life you believe is important, you can apply your values to almost any area. And if you don’t have a specific cause or activity that fulfills you right now, that’s okay too. Stick to what you believe in, and the rest will fall into place.

Try these tips to help you find meaning in your life, but keep in mind that you’re the only one who can determine your purpose here. You’re a unique individual, and you can choose your path without having to live up to other people’s standards or subscribe to their ideas. Your mission is whatever you make of it.
