Do you have a person or group of friends or neighbors who pop in every day or on weekends? This can make it hard to accomplish errands and cleaning, let alone taking time for yourself.
Letting people come over anytime creates unhealthy boundaries. When you learn to say “no,” you’ll have the freedom to accomplish things you should be doing. This may include cleaning, home improvement projects or just vegging in front of the TV.
You Become a Better Person
Setting healthy boundaries means you have time for more self-care. This helps improve both your personal and social life. Maybe your child’s soccer coach wants you to help out several days after school, or the boss keeps demanding overtime.
It can be nice to go above and beyond for others once in a while, but it’s important to set aside time for yourself too. Turning down suggested obligations gives you time to take care of yourself. Go to a painting class, see a movie or chill out at your favorite cafe in your spare time. It rejuvenates your mind, body and spirit.
Stress Levels Plummet
When you realize you’re not on this planet to please everyone else, you start to recognize your own self-worth. Just because you’re a wiz at coding or doing other computer tasks, that doesn’t mean you should be doing everything.
